Tax years, rates and timing

UK tax rates, bands, allowances and reliefs change regularly — usually at each Budget and at the start of the tax year on 6 April. We work hard to update our calculators promptly when changes are announced, but there may be periods, particularly around fiscal events, when published rates have not yet taken effect or our tools are mid-update. Always check the tax year a result relates to before relying on it.
